Mid-Heavy Weight Designer wanted!

Mid-Heavy Weight Designer wanted!

If you are a talented designer – with a clear understanding of good design, independent and have your feet on the ground then this may be for you.

We’re looking for a real self-starter with a keen eye for design detail. An ideal commercial bias would be 60:40 in favour of web design and associated digital over conventional print related activity.  Sharp design skills and the ability to understand and deliver our clients requirement effectively will make you a key part of our business.  We are a small agency so for the right candidate there is a genuine opportunity to develop and establish a good career path with a view to future directorship opportunities for people that are willing to go that extra mile.

Strong Mac and communication skills go without saying.

If you think you have what we are looking for and more, send your CV, salary expectations and work samples to:

alex.j@createsynergy.co.uk

Tel: 01257 272 400

We provide a full service offering to a broad client base through both online and offline activity. Please check out our site to see what we do, and how we do it.

Closing Date for applications:  Monday 9th January 2017

Windows of New York

Windows of New York

Recently we came across this great blog project from José Guizar. It’s a simple idea and executed brilliantly, we look forward to seeing more over the coming weeks.

http://www.windowsofnewyork.com/

“The Windows of New York project is a weekly illustrated fix for an obsession that has increasingly grown in me since chance put me in this town. A product of countless steps of journey through the city streets, this is a collection of windows that somehow have caught my restless eye out from the never-ending buzz of the city. This project is part an ode to architecture and part a self-challenge to never stop looking up.”

Interiors Show 2012

Interiors Show 2012

Here at Synergy, we are inspired by and passionate about all areas of design, not merely print and digital. Recently we attended the Interiors UK exhibition at Birmingham's NEC and were very keen to see the design trends for 2012.

We were not disappointed. Each hall had a different theme and contained a vast range of furniture, lighting, soft furnishings, fabrics, flooring and accessories. The cascading stands and demonstrations presented exciting interior themes, ranging from industrial, vintage and statement glamour!

It was a great way to spend our Sunday and we will certainly be able to use and digest the trends for 2012 into the ongoing work within Synergy... So watch this space.

Blab #9

Blab #9

Synergy sponsored and were represented by members of the creative team, at Blab 9, held in The Deaf Institute in Manchester recently.

Speakers Mat Heinl and Ian Anderson kept a packed forum entertained with their different presentational styles and invited us into their thinking and often amusing approach to how they work. The gulf between agencies/consultancies in terms of budgets, timescales and client buy-in is often wide, but the ‘show’ indicated that we all apply (or should do) the basic principles of the strategic/creative process to ensure we create successful and stunning work.

Mobile FontFonts

Mobile FontFonts

“Just like webfonts, mobile fonts protect brands and help set apps apart from the crowd. Optimized by hand for the device screen, Mobile FontFonts enhance the user experience. Mobile FontFonts let designers and developers break from the mold of system fonts and give their products some personality...”

FontShop have recently released a mobile fonts pack for use in iOS apps. What this means is  greater brand consistency across mobile devices, which can only be a good thing. Hopefully it’ll take off and become available cross-platform, we’ll wait and see but in the meantime you can find out more here.

Typography and Urban Space

Typography and Urban Space

A couple of months ago myself and Phil (Decode) were asked by MA Anthropology student Nija Dalal to take part in her ‘Typography and Urban Space’ thesis.

It was great meeting Nija, she’s from a design background and has now branched out into Anthropology but still with a healthy appreciation for design and typography. We found it a fascinating subject, thoroughly enjoyable and were glad we could help out. Good luck with your grade!

You can find out more about the thesis here and there is also a short, edited section from it here.
